Gum Disease

Most people don't know how common periodontal disease (gum disease) is. Three out of every four adults have some form of this disease.

Periodontal disease in an infection of the gums which is caused by the film of bacteria that coats everyone's teeth. It progresses in stages.

Healthy gums shouldn't bleed or feel tender when you floss or brush. They are tight against the teeth and have pink tips.
STAGE 1: Gingivitis You may experience some swelling, bleeding, tenderness, or bad breath. At this point gums may be loose but are still attached high on the teeth.
STAGE 2: Periodontitis You may experience bright red or receding gums, spaces between your teeth, calculus around the gumline, and some symptoms that occur in Stage 1.
